Black Tea Rinse

If you have hair that has been shedding for a bit more than you would like, here is my solution that has worked for me. Black Tea Rinses are a life saver. For those who are not aware of what shedding is let me explain. Shedding is when you see long strands of your hair in you sink, combs, brushes, or on your clothing. The difference between shedding and breakage is that breakage is normally small pieces of hair while shedding involves long strands of hairs with a white tip at the end. The tip is the part of the hair that is located in the hair follicle. Shedding is normal you are expected to shed about 150 strands per day, for me that is way too much. To combat this I do my Black Tea Rinses. What Black Tea Rinses does is to stop the production of DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) the hormone responsible for shedding. Black has a high level of caffeine which contains DHT, higher than that found in coffee.

Products

1 Liter of water
4-6 Tea bags (I use the regular Lipton Tea Bags)

Directions

  1.  I had the tea bags to the boiling water and let it sit overnight.
  2. I then wash my hair the following day
  3. Then poured the tea on my hair focusing on my scalp, cover with a plastic cap and let stay for 20min.
  4. I then apply my deep conditioner on my hair (without rinsing the black tea from my hair) moisturizing or protein conditioner depending on the time of month.
  5. I cover again with the plastic cap and let sit for 30 min with heat or 1 - 5 hours without heat.
  6. After that I rinse and do my after wash routine.

I have been doing this for a couple of months now and I have definitely seen as amazing decrease in my shedding.  I will however say that this may also be due in part to my 2 in 1 protein treatment that helps with shedding. I believe they work well together and will continue doing both just at different times or when my hair needs them.
