This is the regimen that I have used to care for my mom’s 3C
coarse hair and my sister’s 4C fine hair. Even though their hairs are of
different texture and type, this regimen works for both of them really well.
Relaxing
- · Every 10-12 weeks
- · Protein treatment (1 week before relaxer)
- · Super Reconstructor (After relaxer before neutralizing)
Weekly
- · Shampoo the hair (using a moisturizing shampoo)
- · Deep Condition the hair (using a light protein or moisturizing conditioner every other week)
- · Apply Leave-In conditioner (this is done once a week or twice if necessary)
- · Oil scalp (using oil mix)
- · Co-Wash when needed (mainly after intense activity)
Daily
- · Wear hair in a protective style (ponytail, bun, French braid, etc)
- · Apply protective sunscreen to the hair (mainly IC Fantasia serums or Olive Anti-Frizz Serum)
Nightly
- · Moisturizing and seal ends (using a moisturizer followed with an oil or choice)
- · Wrap hair with satin scarf
Monthly
- · Protein treatment (using either Keracare Super Reconstructor or ORS Hair Mayonnaise)
- · Intense moisture treatment after protein treatment (ORS Hair Masque, Lustrasilk or Keracare Humecto mixed with oils)
Most of these are done on Sunday’s which is the main wash
day. If i do a co-wash it is normally on Wednesday’s which is what i consider
the middle of the week. I also oil their scalps on Wednesdays using an oil mix
(castor oil, olive oil, grape seed oil, avocado oil, almond oil, and argon
oil).
I try to minimize the use of direct heat to about twice per
month. Or use indirect heat (roller set) every week if it is a complete most –
this is mainly after 9 weeks posts.
Very Nice article. thanks for sharing very useful tips
